Managing editor Ray Nolting has been with the Parsons Sun since 1988. He is a 1980 graduate of Shawnee Heights High School, Tecumseh, and a 1988 graduate of Washburn University, Topeka, where he majored in communications
with an emphasis in journalism. He worked at the Topeka Capital-Journal part time during college and also completed an internship at the capital city's newspaper before joining the Sun staff in August 1988.

Nolting has worked a number of jobs at the Sun, including city and county government and police and courts reporting. He was named assistant managing editor in 1996 and was named managing editor in June 2005.

He has won several writing, design and layout awards from the Kansas Press Association and Harris Enterprises, the former parent company of the Parsons Sun. Nolting enjoys outdoor activities and has bicycled across Kansas four times.

He and his wife, Lori, and three children, Mallory, Keaton and Tanner, live in Parsons.
