Sports editor Joey Sprinkle has been with the Parsons Sun since February 2008. He is a 1982 graduate of Pacific High School, San Bernardino, Calif., and a 1987 graduate of Umpqua Community College, Roseburg, Ore., where he majored in journalism. After spending 10 years in mainframe computer operations at Campus Crusade for Christ International, Joey returned to school. After a six-month internship with KPIC-TV in Roseburg, he became a sports writer at the McMinnville, Ore., News-Register. He has been sports editor in Emporia and assistant sports editor at Garden City before coming to Parsons. He has won numerous awards through the Kansas Press Association and Oregon Newspapers Publishers Association. In his free time, Joey enjoys collecting sports cards and memorabilia, and chasing storms. He and his wife, Ginger, have two children, Nikki and Brett.
