Reporter In 1987, Colleen Surridge began attending junior college as a single mother, working toward a degree to become a physical therapist. The serious illness of one of her children forced her to quit school, until nearly 10 years later. At that time she decided to pursue a degree in journalism. Surridge graduated magna cum laude in 1999, from Labette Community College with an associates degree and continues to work toward a bachelor's. She became a reporter for the Sun in September 1996, after working for the LCC college paper and covers the education beat. Surridge also does feature writing for the Sun and has been able to use her artistic talents to enhance news stories from time to time. |
